Maurits Barendrecht

Maurits Barendrecht has a diverse and extensive work experience. Maurits started their career in 1982 as an Attorney/Partner at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek. In 1991, they served as a Board Member for the Microjustice Initiative. From 1993 to 2017, they worked at Tilburg University, first as a Professor of Private Law and later as the Professor of Innovation of Justice Systems. In 2006, they became a Member of the Raad voor de Maatschappelijke Ontwikkeling. Since 2011, they have been the Research Director at HiiL Innovating Justice | Hague Institute for Internationalisation of Law, where they focus on developing innovative procedures and strategies for the justice sector.

Maurits Barendrecht completed their VWO degree from Haags Montessori Lyceum between 1969 and 1975. Following this, they attended Leiden University from 1975 to 1982, although specific details regarding their degree or field of study are not provided.
