Philip Villaluz

Philip Villaluz has extensive experience in the finance industry, particularly in the field of municipal credit research. Philip is currently working as a Senior Vice President in Municipal Credit Research at Hilltop Securities Inc. Philip joined the company in January 2021.

Prior to their current role, Villaluz worked at Schroders as the Head of Municipal Research from July 2014 to January 2020. Before that, they held the position of Managing Director and Head of Municipal Bond Strategy at a Broker Dealer from October 2010 to May 2014.

Villaluz also has experience at Advisors Asset Management, Inc. where they served as the Managing Director of Institutional Sales from August 2009 to October 2010. At Merrill Lynch, they worked as a Senior Municipal Research Analyst from April 2005 to August 2009. Philip also worked as a Municipal Credit Strategist at Merrill Lynch & Co. during the same period.

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Villaluz worked at Citigroup as a Vice President and Senior Credit Risk Officer from 2000 to 2005. Philip started their career at Prudential Financial as a Municipal Credit Analyst in March 1993 and remained with the company until August 2000.

Throughout their career, Philip Villaluz has developed a strong background and expertise in municipal credit research, making him a valuable asset in the finance industry.

From 1986 to 1991, Philip Villaluz attended Rutgers University, where they studied economics but did not obtain a degree.
