James Langille

James Langille has a diverse work experience in the software development field. James started their career as a Quality Assurance Developer at Desire2Learn in 2012. James then transitioned into a Software Developer role at the same company in 2013.

In 2014, James worked as a Software Developer Intern at SMART Technologies, where they contributed to the development of core software products and created a new plugin for teaching Mathematics using a VPL-like interface.

From 2015 to 2016, James held various roles at LinkedIn. As a Software Engineering Co-op, they migrated an old member segmentation tool from pHp to Java Spring. James also worked on the Infrastructure Tools (CRT) Team, where they gained experience in python and developed internal tracking systems and command-line scripts.

In 2016, James joined Ultimate Software as a Software Engineer. After being promoted to Software Developer II, they worked on the IAM team and then transitioned to the Workforce Management team to help bring an attendance management solution to UltiPro.

In 2020, James joined Shopify as a Senior Software Developer and was responsible for enabling scaling of the delivery system for third-party application integration.

Currently, James is working as a Senior Software Engineer at Hireguide. James is involved in building an interviewing platform that focuses on structured interviews to improve the quality of outcomes for companies and candidates. James primarily works on the back-end of the application using Typescript and python and is also involved in candidate interviews and platform improvement.

James Langille completed their education at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University from 2011 to 2016. At the University of Waterloo, they obtained an Honors Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a Coop program. Simultaneously, at Wilfrid Laurier University, they earned an Honors Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Coop program, specializing in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies. Aside from their formal education, James Langille also obtained several certifications, including "Performance-Based Hiring" from LinkedIn in July 2022, "Negotiating Your Salary" from LinkedIn in February 2018, and various managerial-related certifications from LinkedIn in November 2017, such as "Building Accountability Into Your Culture," "Delegating Tasks to Your Team," "Hiring Your Team," "Onboarding New Hires," and "Rewarding Employees." Additionally, James completed the "New Manager Foundations" certification from LinkedIn in September 2017.
