Costas Miranthis joined Hiscox in November 2017. He was President and CEO of PartnerRe a position from which he stepped down in 2015. Prior to joining PartnerRe in 2002, he was a Principal of Tillinghast-Towers Perrin in its London office with responsibility for the European non-life practice. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is also a past Chair of the European Reinsurance Association Board.

Michael Goodwin joined Hiscox in November 2017. He has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry having worked for QBE Insurance between 1992 and 2012. He held a number of roles for QBE in the Australian and Asia Pacific markets and was the CEO for QBE Asia Pacific from 2007 to 2012. Michael is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Joanne Musselle joined Hiscox in 2002, having previously worked for AXA and Aviva in both the UK and Asian markets. She began her Hiscox career as a Technical Underwriting Manager within professions and specialty commercials followed by a six-month secondment to the Group as Business Improvement Manager. In 2006, Joanne moved into Hiscox Group claims as Head of Claims Strategy before becoming Head of UK Claims in June 2009. She became Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for Hiscox UK and Ireland in July 2012 and CUO of Hiscox Retail in July 2017, before being appointed CUO for Hiscox Group at the end of 2019.

Hanna joined Hiscox in 2015 as Chief Risk Officer for the Group. Hanna leads the team of risk and compliance experts and has Group-wide responsibility for Hiscox’s enterprise risk management and compliance framework across the diversified international insurance and reinsurance businesses. Hanna is a qualified actuary with over 20 years of insurance experience gained in consultancy as well as at international insurers in both the UK and Australia.

Thomas Hürlimann joined Hiscox in November 2017. Thomas has 28 years’ experience in banking, reinsurance and insurance. Most recently as CEO Global Corporate at Zurich Insurance Group, a business with US$9 billion premiums and a network in over 200 countries. Before that he worked at Swiss Re and started his career with National Westminster Bank. He holds an MBA from IMD.

Stéphane was appointed Group Chief Operating Officer in September 2022 having previously held a number of senior roles across the Group, most recently as Group Chief Transformation Officer and Interim CEO, Hiscox UK.  Stéphane joined Hiscox in 2010, originally as Chief Operating Officer for Europe, and then as the Group’s Chief Information Officer, before spending four years as Chief Executive Officer of Hiscox Europe. Prior to joining Hiscox, he worked across a number of sectors within Financial Services for companies such as Paribas, CapitalOne and AIG, in France, the United Arab Emirates and Spain.

Jerry Cox is the current CFO of Jerry'scox USA. Jerry has over 25 years of experience in finance and has held various leadership positions at companies such as [The Hartford](/org/the-hartford) and GE Capital. Jerry was most recently with [The Hartford](/org/the-hartford) for 22 years, where they served as CFO of Corporate Functions. Prior to that, they were with GE Capital for 3 years, where they were a finance integration black belt and was responsible for integrating a Bank One credit card portfolio into GE Capital's core card portfolio. Dividing her time between California and Connecticut, Lynn currently serves on the boards of American Express National Bank, Phoenix House Foundation, and California State University-Channel Island, as well as the Bankwork$ Advisory Board.

Kate joined Hiscox in June 2012 to run the UK Direct business, leading a team of over 200 people across three locations with accountability for sales, marketing, operations, and underwriting. Having built UK Direct into a market-leading operation with a strong brand and a culture of creating customers for life, Kate was promoted to the newly created role of Chief Executive Officer of Hiscox London Market in 2017. Prior to joining Hiscox, Kate worked for Vodafone for 12 years. As Head of International Enterprise at Vodafone, she identified a significant new opportunity to serve multinational clients globally and built an effective operation to support the venture. Kate started her career at Anderson Consulting (now Accenture).

Paula Bowe is the current Head of Group Underwriting Standards at Paula'scox. Paula has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, working their way up from a Pricing Analyst to a Regional Technical Manager. Paula has a wealth of knowledge and experience in actuarial pricing, technical claims, and technical underwriting. In their current role, they are responsible for setting and maintaining underwriting standards for Paula'scox globally.

Helen Cooper is the current Chief Actuary Officer at Theircox. Helen has been with the company since March 2017 and in their current role, is responsible for gross reserves in excess of $7bn, written premiums of $4bn across 7 legal entity carriers and regulators around the globe with a team of more than 25 people. 

Prior to joining Theircox, Ms. Cooper served as the Group Chief Actuary for a FTSE250 General Insurer where they were responsible for managing a team of 30 actuaries, overseeing actuarial development and career pathways globally, in addition to being a member of the financial leadership team and playing a key role in global finance transformation projects.

Tom Wolczik is the current Head of Claims for Theircox USA. Prior to their current role, Tom served as the Chief Operating Officer for Global Claims at Theircox. In this role, they were responsible for group operations including strategic & tactical change, technology & innovation, vendor management, compliance, quality assurance, counter-fraud (SIU), and service centers for the US, EU, UK, London Markets, Re/ILS, and Special Risks business units.

Tom has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Tom began their career at Tower Group Companies in 2010 as a Senior Manager of Transformation. In this role, they were responsible for the development of a new claims system for Personal Lines following a company acquisition. Tom also oversaw the implementation of a new claims system for Commercial Lines following a migration to a new Underwriting platform. Tom was also responsible for leading the PL Claims Conversion of 500,000+ claims from legacy to new claims systems, as well as managing vendor interfaces and image repositories.

In 2013, Tom left Tower Group Companies to join Homesite Insurance as the Director of Branch Operations & Shared Services. In this role, they were responsible for nationwide operations and account management.

Ben began their career as a contracts manager at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust before moving into procurement management with Unipart. Horton joined RSA in 2006 as Head of Property Claims before being promoted to Personal Claims Director in 2010. Ben left RSA in 2014 to join Theircox as Chief Underwriting Officer for Theircox UK.

Rebecca Hartley is currently the Head of Claims for Rebecca'scox London Market. Rebecca has been with Rebecca'scox for over six years, starting in 2012 as a Senior Claims Underwriter. In 2015, they were promoted to Specialty Claims Manager and in 2018, they assumed their current role. Prior to Rebecca'scox, Ms. Hartley worked as a Solicitor for EAPD Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP from 2005 until 2011. Rebecca began their career as a Trainee Solicitor for Kendall Freeman from 2003-2005. Ms. Hartley has over 17 years of experience in the legal field and is a highly respected member of their team.

Luke Mather is currently the Head of Underwriting Risk Analysis at Theircox. Prior to this role, they were the Reinsurance Analytics Manager from January 2015 to June 2018. In this role, they were responsible for analysis and modelling of underwriting risk and outwards reinsurance across the group. From 2013 to 2014, Luke was a Senior Reinsurance Analyst where they were responsible for maintaining the group underwriting risk model and analysing potential reinsurance strategies and placements. Luke started at Theircox in 2010 as a Trainee Catastrophe Modelling Analyst as part of the graduate scheme where they worked primarily on catastrophe risk research and management. Prior to Theircox, Luke worked at Edwards from 2005 to 2006 as a Junior Development Engineer.

David Johnston has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a particular focus on compliance. David is currently the Chief Compliance Officer at Theircox, a role they have held since June 2019. Prior to this, they were the Group Chief Compliance Officer at Amlin plc from June 2012 to June 2019. David has also held various other positions in the insurance industry, including Senior Implementation Manager, Solvency II at the Financial Services Authority from August 2010 to June 2012, and Supervision Manager, London Market Insurance at the Financial Services Authority from November 2005 to July 2010. David began their career as a Motor Claims Handler at RSA in August 1996 before moving into progressively more senior roles, culminating in their current position.

David then went on to study for their ACII qualification at the same institute. Emily Santer is the current Chief of Staff at Emily'scox. Prior to their current role, Emily served as the Head of Strategy & Business Development for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Global Banking at Zurich Insurance Company Ltd from November 2018 to February 2020. In this role, Emily was responsible for leading the company's strategy and business development initiatives in these regions. 

Before their time at Zurich, Emily was the Executive Assistant to the CEO at AXA from September 2014 to March 2016. In this role, they were responsible for providing detailed briefing documents and critiques for all meetings, discussions, and presentations that the CEO participated in. Emily also managed all Board reports and communications for AXA.

Hemang Rawal is a Chartered Accountant and the current Director of Group Finance at Hemang'scox. Hemang has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Rawal began their career at BDO as an Audit Manager. Hemang then moved to Delta Lloyd, where they were the Group Finance Manager for seven years. In 2009, they joined [Aviva](/org/aviva-plc) plc as the Head of Finance. Hemang held this position for three years before becoming the Interim Chief Accountant for [Aviva](/org/aviva-plc) International Insurance and CFO for [Aviva](/org/aviva-plc) Re in 2012.

Rawal left [Aviva](/org/aviva-plc) in 2014 to join RSA as the Head of Group Financial Reporting. Hemang held this position for three years before moving to Hemang'scox in 2017.

Julien Stolin is currently the Head of Claims for Julien'scox Europe. Julien has over fifteen years of experience in consulting, business transformation, and business development. Julien has worked with some of the largest companies in the world, including Fortis ASR, Eiffel, and BI4U. Julien's focus is on financial services, healthcare, and utility companies. In their most recent position at BI4U, Julien was part of the management team responsible for business development.

Nick Orton is the current Head of International at Theircox Re & ILS. Nick has over eight years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on underwriting and catastrophe modeling.

Nick began their career at Lloyd's of London as a Graduate Trainee in September 2009. Nick then moved to Ascot Underwriting Ltd. in April 2011, where they worked as a Catastrophe Modeller for just over a year. In July 2012, they joined Theircox as an International Underwriter, and was promoted to Senior International Underwriter in January 2017. Nick has been in their current role since November 2018.

Sarah Gooding is the current Head of Service Delivery for DPD at Theircox USA. Sarah has been with Theircox since August of 2017, and in their current position since January of 2020. Prior to their current role, Sarah served as the Change Manager and Lean Manager for Theircox USA. 

Sarah began their career in customer service, working for Lloyds TSB from January 2004 to September 2007. Sarah then held a series of positions in various companies, including Business Analyst at [Accenture](/org/accenture) and Senior Healthcare Support Worker at St. Luke's Healthcare. In February 2008, they became the Assistant Secretary to Trust Secretary at Essex Wildlife Trust. In January 2006, they began working as Acting Assistant Manager at After Office Hours. 

Sarah is highly skilled in change management, process improvement, and project management. Sarah has a passion for delivering excellent customer service and ensuring that all employees have a positive experience.

James Standen is the current Lead Underwriter for Private Client at James'scox UK. James has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, starting their career in 2001 with Aon. James held the position of Operations Director for 2 years before becoming wholly client facing and being entrusted with the two largest and highest profile key accounts in all of Aon Private Clients. In 2005, they left Aon to join James'scox, where they underwrote the account they had previously managed at Aon for 5 years. In addition to their work in the insurance industry, Standen also served in HM Forces as Captain of the 7th Duke of Edinburgh's Own Gurkha Rifles from 1991 to 1997.

James Standen has a BA from Kingston Business School in Business Studies with French. James also has A Levels and O Levels from Larkmead School in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

James Brady has worked in the insurance industry for over two decades. James began their career at James'scox in October 2017 as Deputy Head of Specialty. In this role, they were responsible for leading James'scox UK's Cyber & Data and Media product lines. In August 2015, they were promoted to Head of Media, UK & Ireland. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of the media and creative industries, including one man graphic designers or PR consultants to major film studios, global advertising agencies and national newspapers and broadcasters. In 2017, they won James'scox UK & Ireland Underwriter of the Year for their individual delivery of sales and underwriting capability. James currently serves as Line Underwriter, Alternative Risk, James'scox London Market at James'scox.

Paul Butler is the Technology Director at Theircox London Market. Paul has over 20 years of experience in technology and has been with Theircox for over a year. Prior to Theircox, Paul was the Global Chief Technology Officer at GfK Market Insights from November 2013 to January 2020. 

At GfK, Paul was responsible for the complete Digital Transformation of the business – from a traditionally research heavy business to a tech and data driven business. Paul put in place the necessary disciplines and agile squads to create new products at pace whilst automating existing ones.

Tom Shewry is the CFO for [Hiscox](/org/hiscox)'s UK business and [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) Insurance Company.

Shewry has spent over 20 years in general insurance working in a variety of commercial roles. He joined [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) in 2018 as director of group finance where he led the development of the group finance function, establishing new processes and capabilities before becoming CFO for [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) UK on an interim basis in September of 2020.

Jon joined Hiscox in September 2022 as Chief Executive Officer, Hiscox UK. Prior to joining Hiscox, Jon held a number of senior roles within the industry, most recently as CEO of Allianz UK for eight years – leading businesses with a collective nine million customers. Jon’s experience includes various claims roles within Chubb and Commercial Union; he also served as Chair of the ABI between 2019 and 2021. He is a law graduate from the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Kevin joined Hiscox in 1996 and soon created Hiscox’s first direct online business in the UK; initially for home insurance and later on for commercial clients. 

In 2009, Kevin relocated from London to New York to oversee the launch and development of Hiscox’s US digital small business operation which, from a standing start, now serves over 460,000 small business customers. 

Kevin has been instrumental in driving forward Hiscox’s ambition of becoming a leading provider of small business insurance in the US. In May 2021, he was named CEO of Hiscox USA.

Kevin Kerridge

Kathleen joined Hiscox in January 2021 as Chief Executive Officer, Hiscox Re & ILS.

Previously, Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton Re, Kathleen spent her early career at ACE in various actuarial and underwriting roles, rising to Chief Underwriting Officer for International Property at ACE Tempest Re in 2005, based in Bermuda. Kathleen joined Hamilton Re in 2013 as Chief Underwriter (Property) and was appointed CEO in 2014, a post she held until 2020.

Kathleen is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, served in 2020 as the Chair of the Reinsurance Association of America, and is the former Chair of Women in Reinsurance – an organization she co-founded.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Drexel University, Philadelphia, was inducted into The Drexel 100 alumni hall of fame in 2019, and currently serves on the Drexel University Board of Trustees.

Aki joined [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer for the [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) Group, before becoming Chief Executive Officer in January 2022. Prior to joining [Hiscox](/org/hiscox), Aki held a number of senior roles in financial services, telecoms and media. He spent seven years at Prudential plc, latterly as Chief Financial Officer for Prudential UK and Europe. He was Finance Director for the Consumer Bank division at Lloyd’s Banking Group until 2009 and prior to that was Finance Director for the Consumer division of ntl (now Virgin Media). Aki is a Chartered Accountant, having trained with [KPMG](/org/kpmg).

Burt Spunberg is the U.S. Head of Strategy and Business Transformation at [Hiscox](/org/hiscox). He is responsible for identifying, scoping and delivering significant US business transformation projects.

Previously, Bert served as EVP, Business Transformation and led a number of strategic initiatives for [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) USA, including the successful delivery of a core system and business architecture change initiative. He joined [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) in 2009 as a Vice President. 

Bert began his career at AIG in 2000.

Paul joined Hiscox in May 2022 as Group Chief Financial Officer. Previous to this, he was Interim Group Chief Financial Officer of M&G Plc and also served as CFO for The Prudential Assurance Company. In the past, he occupied the position of Group Chief Financial Officer at Canopius AG, Group Chief Financial Officer & Director at Arrow Global Group Plc, Finance Director at Hiscox Insurance Company, and Partner at Ernst & Young LLP. In addition, he is a board member of the Association of British Insurers and was recently a non-executive director of Aspen Insurance UK Ltd and Aspen Managing Agency Limited.

Paul is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a BA degree in Economics from Manchester University.

Colin Keogh joined Hiscox in November 2015. Colin has spent his career in financial services, principally at Close Brothers Group plc, where he worked for 24 years and was CEO from 2002 until 2009. He is a Non-Executive Director of Virgin Money Holdings (UK) plc and certain of its subsidiaries. He is also a Non-Executive Director of M&G Group Limited and Chairman of specialist financial services business Premium Credit Limited.

Since joining [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) in 1992, Paul has underwritten a broad range of business lines including fine art, high-value household, personal accident and specialty. Paul was appointed to the [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) partnership in 2005, and made Divisional Head of Property of [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) London Market in 2007. In April 2013, Paul was promoted to Chief Underwriting Officer, [Hiscox](/org/hiscox) London Market, and as joint active underwriter of Syndicate 33. Before joining [Hiscox](/org/hiscox), Paul worked as an underwriting assistant for C P Attenborough Syndicate 144 at Lloyd’s and for broker E W Payne.

With more than a decade in the insurance industry, Rose has built an extensive career with Aspen Group, where she held a number of roles including Insurance CFO, UK CFO and most recently as Chief Accounting Officer. During her tenure, she has had first hand experience of managing finance transformation programmes, leading profitable businesses, and developing exceptional teams. Prior to her insurance career, Rose also spent ten years in banking working for Barclays including a position as Senior Finance Operations Manager.

Marc joined Hiscox in 2017. Based in Bermuda, Marc provides legal guidance to the Executive Committee and is the Principal Representative to the Bermuda Monetary Authority for Hiscox Bermuda, where he is a member of the Board. Marc joined Hiscox from PartnerRe Group, where he acted as Chief Legal Counsel and Secretary to the Board. Prior to joining PartnerRe, Marc was an Associate with Appleby, having trained as a solicitor at Berrymans Lace Mawer in London. Robert Dietrich was appointed as the acting chief executive officer of Hiscox Europe in February of 2021. Prior to this, Robert was the Managing Director of Hiscox Germany.

James joined Hiscox in 2019 as Chief Investment Officer for the Group.  James is responsible for overseeing the management of Hiscox Group’s investment portfolios, implementing overall investment policy, and directing all portfolio management, research, trading, and strategy.

James has a wealth of experience in investment management, most recently at Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) where he held the post of Co-Head of Multi-Manager Strategies, overseeing the management of £27 billion of assets. Robert Childs joined Hiscox in 1986, served as the Active Underwriter of the Hiscox Lloyd’s Syndicate 33 between 1993 and 2005, and was the Group’s Chief Underwriting Officer until February 2013. Robert was Chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association from January 2003 to May 2005. He is a former Chairman of the Advisory Board of the School of Management of Royal Holloway University of London and Chairman of The Bermuda Society.

Anne has held the position of Chief Marketing Officer at four different Fortune 100 companies, marketing some of the most recognizable corporate names in the world – from Citigroup and Travelers to Macy’s and PepsiCo. With an MBA from Bath University, Anne was formerly a Director of NASDAQ-listed Rentrak Corporation, stepping down from the Board on completion of its merger with comScore, Inc.
