Jenny Hernandez is an experienced professional with a diverse background in education and counseling. Currently serving as a NY Project Hope Crisis Counselor at the Hispanic Counseling Center since November 2020, Jenny provides essential emotional support to individuals and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, at Multicultural High School from September 2015 to June 2019, Jenny held roles as an AP Research Teacher, implementing research skills aligned with college readiness, and as an English Second Language Teacher, preparing students for key standardized exams. Earlier experience includes a position as Performance Coordinator at the United Way of New York City, where Jenny contributed to data-driven decision-making for the ReadNYC initiative. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Stony Brook University, earned in December 2013.

ABOUT HCC: The Hispanic Counseling Center (HCC) was established in 1977 by the Nassau County Department of Drug and Alcohol Addiction and the Nassau County Youth Board to provide substance abuse treatment services and services for children and adolescents in response to the county’s growing Latino population. Over the intervening years, the agency has grown and expanded, adding programs to respond to the community’s most urgent needs. Today, client services include Individual, Group, and Family Counseling, Educational Workshops, Case Management, Support Groups, Family Activities, After-school Tutoring and Enrichment, Summer Camp, Crisis Intervention, and Prevention Programs for at-risk youth. Services are available to all, regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, sexual orientation, or ability to pay. HCC continues to foster excellence in terms of quality of services and professionalism. As a result of a dedicated Staff and Board, and a strong network of donors, funders, and community supporters, Hispanic Counseling Center continues to make a difference-big and small-in the lives of Long Islanders. OUR MISSION: To enhance the strengths of Long Island’s families and children through bilingual, bicultural counseling, prevention, vocational and educational services to enrich their lives, foster economic independence and nurture dreams for generations to come.
