Bob Downer has a diverse work experience in various roles within the rail and transportation industry.
Bob started their career in the Royal Navy as a Leading Weapons and Sensors Mechanic from 1994 to 2003.
Following their military service, they joined First Group as a Rolling Stock Inspector from 2004 to 2008.
Bob then moved on to Bombardier Transportation, where they worked as an Assistant Project Manager from 2008 to 2012.
Afterwards, they joined Porterbrook as an Assistant Fleet Manager from 2012 to 2016, where they were responsible for ensuring safe operation of vehicles and managing maintenance specifications.
Most recently, Bob worked at Hitachi Rail Europe, first as an IEP Engineering Manager from 2016 to 2018, leading technical delivery on multiple projects, and then as the Head of AT300 Engineering, responsible for technical discussions and design reviews with stakeholders.
Bob Downer attended St Thomas More School in Bedford.
