HITS Theatre
Janessa Harris is a skilled professional in the fields of communications, lighting design, and education. Currently serving as the Director of Communications and Associate Director of Advancement at HITS Theatre since May 2023, Janessa supports fundraising, marketing, and patron services. As a Lighting Designer since September 2020, Janessa has worked on numerous productions, including "Buttons Sleeping Beauty" and "Othello: The Remix," while also holding the role of Adjunct Instructor at San Jacinto College since August 2023. Janessa's earlier experience includes various positions at Torrid, lighting technician roles for Norwegian Cruise Line, and educational roles at Southern Illinois University, which culminated in an M.F.A. in Lighting Design.

HITS Theatre
HITS Theatre is one of the leading children's performing arts organizations in Houston providing comprehensive musical theatre training for grades K-12. HITS Theatre was founded in 1980 as a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation by Carolyn Franklin. HITS is located in the historic Houston Heights and provides arts programming to over 1200 students each year. HITS provides a transformative experience for our students as they become disciplined team players, creative thinkers, and confident communicators— learning critical skills that will serve them well whether on stage or in the board room.
