Lorenzo Nespoli

Research Scientist, Cofounder at Hive Power

Lorenzo Nespoli has a diverse work experience spanning from 2013 to the present. In 2013, they worked as a Heat and Mass Transfer Analyst at Universität Innsbruck. Lorenzo then completed an Internship Process Development at Redecam Group S.p.A. in 2014. That same year, they worked as a Scientific Researcher and Master Assistant at Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI), where their roles included multiphysics systems modeling and simulation, PV and battery sizing, and system identification of buildings thermal dynamics. From 2017 to the present, they have been a Research Scientist and Cofounder at Hive Power. Most recently, they began working as a Researcher at NCCR Automation in 2022.

Lorenzo Nespoli began their educational journey in 2008 when they earned a Bachelor's degree in Energy Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. Lorenzo then pursued a Master's degree in Energy Engineering from the same institution, which they completed in 2013. In the same year, they also completed a Master Thesis from Leopold-Franzens Universität Innsbruck. In 2015, Lorenzo obtained a MIT-X Verified Certificate for Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python from edX. Finally, Lorenzo completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in EDEY from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in 2019.
