Frerieke van Bree

Frerieke van Bree serves as the Program Director for the Digital Defenders Partnership at Hivos since June 2014, leading a team of 35 across more than 20 countries with an annual budget of approximately 3.5 million euros and successfully raising around 20 million euros in funding from 15 governmental sources. Previous roles include Program Officer for ICT & Media at Hivos, freelance Professional Coach and Trainer at Coachcenter, and several positions at Plan Nederland, encompassing marketing, project management, and youth coordination. Frerieke founded initiatives like Students for Humanity and Stichting Umeebee to support young people in Africa, and has experience as an architect with Makeka Design Lab. Educational credentials include an MSc in Urbanism and Architecture from Technical University Delft and a Master's degree in Human Rights, Development, and Social Justice from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
