Ragnhild Gjelsvik has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Ragnhild started their career at John Gjerde as a trainee in 1993, followed by a trainee position at Les Ciments de Bizerte in 1994. Ragnhild then worked as an assistant student teacher at NTNU from 1994 to 1996.

In 1996, Gjelsvik joined Kværner Oil & Gas as a senior process engineer, where they gained experience in conceptual studies, detail engineering in EPCI projects, and offshore commissioning. Ragnhild later transitioned to Accenture as a consultant from 2000 to 2001.

From 2001 to 2011, Gjelsvik held the position of senior engineering manager at Aibel (formerly Vetco Aibel, formerly ABB Offshore Systems). In this role, they held key positions in EPCI projects, FEED studies, and frame agreements for maintenance and modification, working with major clients such as Statoil and ConocoPhillips.

In 2011, Gjelsvik joined GE Infrastructure as an engineering manager in connection systems, a role they held until 2016. From 2016 to 2023, they worked at Oslo kommune, starting as a functional unit manager for project execution and later becoming the seksjonsleder avløpstransport (head of wastewater transport).

Throughout their career, Gjelsvik has also served as a member of the board at Bilkollektivet SA from 2017 to 2022.

Currently, Gjelsvik holds the position of senior vice president head of fleet management at Höegh LNG, starting in 2023.

Ragnhild Gjelsvik began their education in 1987 at Førde Gymnas, but it is not specified whether they obtained a degree or what field of study they pursued. From 1990 to 1994, they attended the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) where they earned a degree called "Sivilingeniør" equivalent to a M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering. In 1995 to 1996, they took an intermediate subject in Sociology at NTNU. Later, in 1999 to 2000, they pursued part-time study at BI Norwegian Business School, focusing on subjects in Managerial Economics and Finance. Gjelsvik also participated in the AFF Solstrand program for young leaders in 2002 to 2003, completing a Leadership Development Program.
