Dr. Jay McClain

Deputy Superintendent at Hopewell City Public Schools

Dr. Jay McClain is currently the Deputy Superintendent at Hopewell City Public Schools. Prior to their current position, they served as the Vice President at Teach For America DC Region, the Director of Cluster III at Fairfax County Public Schools, and the Principal of Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences and Haycock Elementary School, also in Fairfax County. Dr. McClain has been working in education for over 20 years and has been a principal for 10 of those years.

Dr. Jay McClain has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Analysis from Duke University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration, General, from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Jay McClain reports to Dr. Melody Hackney, Superintendent. They are on a team with Kristina Truell - Supervisor of Career and Technical Education, Health and PE, Burlin Gregory - Director of Innovation, and Dr. Tina Barringer - Director of Elementary Instruction.
