Dr. Matthias Lepiorz

Director Strategy at HOPPECKE Batteries

Dr. Matthias Lepiorz has a diverse work experience spanning across multiple companies and roles. Dr. Matthias is currently the Director of Strategy and Managing Director of the Division MP Lithium at HOPPECKE Batteries since July 2021. Dr. Matthias previously served as the Technical Director and Head of Development at the same company from 2018 to 2021.

Prior to their role at HOPPECKE Batteries, Dr. Lepiorz worked at Hilti Group where they served as a Project Manager in Battery Technology from 2016 to 2018. Dr. Matthias was also part of the Hilti International Talent Advancement Program in 2017. Before that, they worked as a Development Engineer in Battery Technology from 2015.

Dr. Lepiorz started their career at Siemens as a PHD Candidate in Battery Technology from 2011 to 2014. Dr. Matthias held the positions of elected PhD Representative for Siemens Corporate Technology and elected PhD Representative of Siemens Corporate Technology in Erlangen during their time at Siemens.

Before joining Siemens, Dr. Lepiorz worked at Fraunhofer IISB as a Diploma student in Battery Technology from 2010 to 2011.

In addition to their academic and industry experience, Dr. Lepiorz also worked at IAESTE as an Employee, and later as the Head of IAESTE at the University Erlangen from 2005 to 2008. Dr. Matthias also interned at Rostec de Mexico in 2008 and at Transnova Ruf GmbH in 2005.

Dr. Lepiorz also has military experience, having supported the military command at Bundeswehr from 2003 to 2004.

Overall, Dr. Matthias Lepiorz has a strong background in strategy, management, development, and research in battery technology, and has held various leadership positions throughout their career.

Dr. Matthias Lepiorz obtained their Diploma in Mechatronics from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg between the years 2004 and 2010. During this period, they specialized in control engineering and applied mechanics. Later on, they pursued further education at the Technical University of Munich from 2011 to 2015, where they achieved a Doctor of Engineering degree in the field of Elektrotechnik.
