Sumarlin's work experience begins in 2012 as an Administrative Officer at BADAN PENGAWAS OBAT DAN MAKANAN. In 2013, they started working at BPJS Kesehatan, first as an IT Helpdesk and later transitioning to IT Security until 2022. Since August 2022, Sumarlin has been working as a Lead Cybersecurity Consultant at Horangi Cyber Security.

Sumarlin completed a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, General from BINUS University from the academic year 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, Sumarlin obtained an Associate's degree in Computer Engineering from Universitas Negeri Papua between 2009 and 2012.

In addition to formal education, Sumarlin has also obtained several certifications. These include being an AWS Academy Graduate - AWS Academy Cloud Architecting from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in March 2023, Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) from Offensive Security in March 2021, F5 Configuring & Setting up AWAF from Red Education in January 2021, Ajun Ahli Asuransi Kesehatan from Perhimpunan Ahli Manajemen Jaminan Dan Asuransi Kesehatan Indonesia in September 2017, IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL) from APMG International in December 2016, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) from EC-Council in February 2020, and Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate from Cisco in October 2022.
