Steve Hawkins has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Steve started their career in 1985 as a Sales Manager and Sales Representative at Western & Southern Life, where they recruited, trained, and managed a team of life insurance sales agents. From 1990 to 1997, they worked as a Collector at American Bankers Financial Services, specializing in bankruptcy and collection for a multi-state mobile home loan portfolio.
In 1997, Steve joined Huntington National Bank as a Senior Credit Adjuster, focusing on consumer, real estate, and specialty commercial truck and equipment portfolios. Steve was responsible for handling complex legal cases, representing the bank in state and federal court proceedings.
In 2001, Steve joined Chemical Bank as a Vice President/Special Assets/Collections, managing distressed and non-performing commercial loans, including liquidating ORE properties and collections for SBA guaranteed and small business loans. Steve achieved positive outcomes through credit rehabilitation and effective liquidation or exit strategies. Steve's role later expanded to become the 1st Vice President and Consumer Collections Director, overseeing the Consumer Loan Collections Group and managing portfolio performance metrics and reporting to senior leadership.
Steve's most recent experience is at Horizon Bank, where they hold the position of Vice President and Commercial Loan Workout Officer since December 2017.
Steve Hawkins attended Spring Arbor University from 1981 to 1985, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Their fields of study included both Psychology and Business.
