POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Safety Coordinator will provide support to office and field personnel located on a project site from May of 2024 until approximately June of 2025. This person will also assist the Safety Department in an effort to enforce the Company Safety policies and procedures. In addition to the project site safety responsibilities, they shall participate in and complete all tasks assigned to them by the Safety Department.

RESPONSIBLITIES/DUTIES:

These responsibilities generally describe the nature of the position and may not be all inclusive:

  • Assist in the development and enforce the Safety Program and Site-Specific Safety and Health Plans.

  • Provides technical safety advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to all employees regarding Horwitz safety policies and procedures.

  • Responsible to stay updated in all necessary State and Federal rules and regulations relevant to our scope of work.

  • Assists the Safety Director, Safety Department with performing in-house training with regard to site safety and safety related regulations.

  • Assists with writing new company safety policies and procedures.

  • Assists with reporting, handling, and monitoring of worker’s compensation, property, and general liability insurance claims.

  • Assist in conducting new hire orientations for every new employee.

  • Conduct weekly site safety audits on all Horwitz job sites.

  • Assist in investigating all accidents, incidents, and near misses.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ABILITES:

  • 1-2 years of General Industry or Construction Safety experience preferred but not required.

  • Working knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.

  • Working knowledge of computer programs (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals.

  • Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

  • Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently attending ,or recent graduate of, an EHS related degree program or a combination of both a minor in an EHS field and experience in building construction.

  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred but not required; ability to complete within first 10 days of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver’s license, ability to maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record, and adhere to Horwitz Fleet Vehicle Policy.
  • Dependable means of transportation local area job sites.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
