Hostelling International (HI) is a non-governmental, not-for profit charity based in the UK, representing 62 member associations from all over the world. It is the world’s largest youth membership organisation, it is recognised by UNESCO (United National Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation) and Affiliate Member of the UNWTO.

HI is the only global network of youth hostel associations. Its four million members are offered a choice of more than 3,000 hostels, all meeting internationally agreed assured standards in order to guarantee the guests a great experience at all hostels.

Hostelling International is a membership organisation, and HI membership gives you much more than a comfy bed! It puts you at the heart of a global community of travellers, where you share experiences, culture and friendship with people of all nations.

The Travel and International Coordination team at Hostelling International works to enhance global youth travel and cultural exchange. This team coordinates travel scholarships, volunteer opportunities, and international programs. They also work on regional development initiatives, particularly in the Americas, to ensure that members have access to enriching travel experiences and cultural interactions.
