Senior/lead 3d Artist

You are a curious thinker, who is keen to create and polish world class Game Experiences for F2P Mobile Games and for other platforms and show others how to create the experiences. Hothead is looking for a Sr or Lead 3D Artist with a passion for applying ‘player-centered’ thinking methods into the game development process with your peers.

At Hothead Games, we’re constantly raising the bar of excellence in free-to-play mobile gaming. You will join one of our mobile game team or Work for Hire team and create a new chapter for Hothead by working closely with all members from your game team 

Job Summary: As a Senior/Lead 3D Artist at Hothead Games you will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D assets, including props, environments, and characters, to elevate the visual appeal and immersive nature of our mobile games. You will collaborate closely with the art team, game designers, and developers to ensure our games meet the highest standards of quality and engage players on a whole new level.

Key Responsibilities:

1. 3D Modeling and Texturing: Create detailed and visually appealing 3D models for props, environments, and characters, ensuring they are optimized for mobile platforms while maintaining excellent quality.
2. Character Design: Develop unique and memorable character designs, from concept to final 3D models, incorporating personality, animation, and functionality.
3. Environment Design: Craft immersive and visually stunning 3D game environments, including landscapes, architecture, and set pieces, that enhance player engagement.
4. Prop Creation: Design and model props and objects that enrich the gaming experience, adding realism and interaction to the game world.
5. Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including game designers, animators, and programmers, to ensure artistic assets integrate seamlessly into the game.
6. Mentorship: Lead and mentor junior 3D artists, providing guidance and constructive feedback to help them grow in their roles.
7. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all 3D assets meet the highest quality standards and are optimized for performance on mobile devices.
8. Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continually enhance the visual quality of our games.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Proven experience as a 3D artist in the gaming industry (5+ yrs), with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
3. Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, Blender, 3ds Max) and texturing tools (e.g., Substance Painter, Photoshop).
4. Expertise in character design, rigging, and animation.
5. Strong knowledge of 3D asset optimization for mobile platforms.
6. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
7. Leadership experience is a plus.
8. Passion for mobile gaming and a strong understanding of gaming trends.
