Isabel Hovey

Isabel Hovey has a diverse work experience spanning different sectors and roles. Isabel began their career as a Youth Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps, where they worked on developing an after-school program for children in special education classes. After their time with the Peace Corps, Isabel worked as the Program Director of Adult Literacy at Fayetteville Urban Ministry, where they were responsible for program operations and volunteer coordination. Isabel then joined East Austin College Prep as a Parent Support Specialist, facilitating communication between parents and the school, coordinating programs and workshops, and providing support to non-Spanish speaking staff. Isabel also worked as a Research Assistant at the CFRP Child and Family Research Partnership at LBJ, contributing to research, data collection, and policy reports.

In their most recent positions at Houston ISD, Isabel served as a Research Specialist, Senior Research Specialist, and Manager in various departments, specializing in data analysis and compliance. Isabel coordinated data collection efforts, ensured data reporting mandates were met, and provided guidance on improving instructional programs. In their current role as the Director of Data Science & Compliance, they oversee the assessment, accountability, and compliance department.

Isabel Hovey holds a B.A. degree in International Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Isabel also holds a Master of Global Policy Studies degree in Public Policy Analysis from The LBJ School of Public Affairs. In addition, they completed the Economic Development program in Santiago, Chile at the School for International Training. Isabel has obtained certifications in Strategic Data Project Institute for Leadership in Analytics from the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University in 2019, IES Methods Training Program in Cost-Effectiveness and Benefit-Cost Analysis from the Center for Benefit-Cost Studies of Education at Teachers College Columbia University in 2018, and TEOFL Certification from ITC International in 2007. Isabel also has completed a Portfolio in Nonprofit Studies, although the details of when and where they obtained it are not provided.
