Margaret D. Tutwiler

Margaret D. Tutwiler retired as executive vice president for communications and government relations of CIT Group Inc. in 2016.

Margaret Tutwiler has wide-ranging experience in the public and private sectors. Tutwiler served as the U.S. ambassador to Morocco and in senior roles at the White House, the Department of the Treasury, and the U.S. Department of State, where she was the under secretary of state for public diplomacy from 2003 to 2004, and an assistant secretary of state for public affairs and the State Department spokesperson from 1985 to 1989.

Following her government service, Tutwiler held senior management roles in the financial sector, including at the New York Stock Exchange, Merrill Lynch, and CIT Group Inc.

Tutwiler was elected a trustee in 2019.
