Renae Preston

Renae Preston has a diverse work experience spanning from 2011 to the present. In 2011, they started their career as an Assistant Teacher at KIPP DC, where they assisted with lesson preparation, grading assignments, and managing the classroom environment. Renae stayed in this role until 2013. During the same year, they also worked as a DNA Intern at The Bode Technology Group, where they stocked and maintained laboratory facilities, processed casework raw data, and provided basic training to incoming interns. In 2013, Renae joined IBBR Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research as a Faculty Research Assistant, where they assisted Principle Researchers in molecular biology projects and maintained mammalian cell cultures. Renae was responsible for documenting and presenting project results for publication. In 2018, Renae joined Howard Hughes Medical Institute as a Research Technician II, where they provided support in various research projects. Their responsibilities evolved, and they eventually became a Scientific Operations Lead Specialist in June 2023. The end dates for their roles at Howard Hughes Medical Institute have not been provided.

Renae Preston received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from Hampton University in 2009. Renae continued their education at Northern Virginia Community College from 2012 to 2013, obtaining a Certification in Biotechnology Laboratory Technician. Finally, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus, completing it in 2019.
