James Dragan

Research Scientist at HRL Laboratories

James Dragan has a diverse work experience in research and teaching roles. James is currently working as a Research Scientist at HRL Laboratories, LLC since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Northwestern University from June 2016 to September 2022 as a Graduate Research Assistant in Prof. Brian Odom's Molecular Ion and Atom Trapping research group. James was also a Graduate Teaching Assistant from September 2017 to June 2020. Before Northwestern University, they worked at the University of Connecticut as a Graduate Research Assistant from September 2014 to May 2016. In this role, they conducted research on molecular dynamics using pump-probe spectroscopy and installed a diffusion pump and a molecular beam injector to the experimental vacuum system. James was also involved in building a custom heat exchange using spare lab parts. James Dragan started their research career as a Research Assistant at Stony Brook University from May 2012 to May 2014.

James Dragan completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with Honors and a specialization in Optics at Stony Brook University from 2010 to 2014. James then pursued a Master of Science degree in Physics at the University of Connecticut from 2014 to 2016. Lastly, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Physics from Northwestern University from 2016 to 2022.
