Robert Accolla, Ph.D. has worked in various research roles, starting as a research intern at Jefferson Lab in 2012. In 2015, they worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Chemistry Department and College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, and as a supervisor at Virginia Tech Services, Inc. In 2016, they participated in a Research Experiences for Undergraduates program at the University of Louisville. Robert later returned to Virginia Tech to work as an undergraduate researcher until 2022 and earned their Ph.D. During their time at the University of Florida, from 2017 to 2023, they were a postdoctoral researcher and worked on translational biomaterials. In 2023, Robert Accolla began work as a Process Development Scientist 1 at Humacyte.

Robert Accolla earned their Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Regenerative Medicine from the University of Florida, where they studied from 2017 to 2021. Prior to this, they completed their undergraduate studies in Biological Systems Engineering with a specialization in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Virginia Tech from 2013 to 2017. In addition, Robert earned a Micro-Nano Fabrication Certification from the University of Louisville, though the specific details of this certification are unknown.
