Basa Koga

Basa Koga currently serves as the City Director at Human Rights Watch, where responsibilities include co-chairing the Global DEI Taskforce and participating in the Staff Body steering committee since February 2018. Prior experience includes roles such as Development Associate at Gateway Theatre BC, Donor Relations Coordinator at VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, and Events Coordinator at JDRF Canada. Koga's background also features positions at Nikkei Place Foundation and The University of British Columbia, as well as early experience as an Assistant Teacher at Associação communitaria Monte Azul and co-founding the Reuse Project at from grassroots hiroshima. Koga's educational qualifications encompass an ongoing MBA at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Master's in Education from The University of British Columbia, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Waseda University and a certificate in Strategic Public Relations from the University of Toronto.
