Dominic Noy

Director Of Data Science at Humanising Autonomy

Dominic Noy has a long history of work experience in the fields of data science, psychology, robotics, and cognitive science. In 2007, they began their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Konstanz, Department of Social Psychology and Motivation. In this role, they developed, implemented, and analyzed experiments regarding visual attention and distraction. From 2010 to 2014, they worked as a Lecturer at the University of Minho, Department of Psychology. In 2012, they became a Researcher at the University of Minho, Laboratory of Visualization and Perception, where they conducted psychophysics experiments. In 2011, they were a Researcher at the Centre for Computer Graphics. In 2017, they became a Freelance Data Scientist and a Researcher at the University of Minho, Centre of Mathematics. Finally, in 2018, they began working at Humanising Autonomy in various roles, including Behavioural Data Scientist, Senior Behavioural Data Scientist, and Principal Behavioural Data Scientist. In these roles, they have combined psychology, statistics, and deep learning to build interpretable AI systems, and has acted as the technical lead on projects building probabilistic machine learning models of human behaviour and cognition.

Dominic Noy obtained a Diplom in Psychology from the University of Konstanz in 2012. Dominic then attended the University of Minho, where they obtained a Master's degree in Statistics in 2017 and a Ph.D. in Basic Psychology (Cognitive Science) in 2018. Dominic also attended the University of Florence in 2008-2009 for Psychology. In addition, they have obtained several certificates from Coursera, including Introduction to PyMC3 for Bayesian Modeling and Inference (2021), Mathematics for Machine Learning Specialisation (2021), Probabilistic Graphical Models 3: Learning (2020), Deep Learning Specialization (2018), and Neural Networks and Deep Learning (2018).
