Role Description

We are looking for a Writer II to join a veteran team of developers creating a new sci-fi IP. As Writer II, you’ll work closely with Narrative, Design, and Art teams to shape the game world and create memorable characters and emotionally compelling stories. Our ideal candidate has experience working from concept to ship on large-scale narrative driven games. We want people who are excited by the challenge of creating a new IP and will push for quality.

This role can be done remotely or in-office either in B.C. or Alberta, as part of our flexible location model.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Design, Art, and Cinematics to create strong visual stories
  • Work with the Narrative and Design teams to develop missions that supports the game design
  • Own and iterate on story plans, mission narratives, and world building documents
  • Create engaging characters, exceptional dialogue, and diverse and inclusive stories.
  • Shepherd a coherent tone and brand identity across the IP
  • Evaluate feedback openly and provide quick turnaround on scripts

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years in the video game industry

  • Shipped one or more AAA games in an intermediate writing role

  • Strong world building skills and a teamwork-oriented approach to development

  • Ability to prioritize workload independently and produce quality writing on schedule

  • Deep understanding of narrative structure

  • Experience and enthusiasm for collaborating with other creative disciplines

  • Strong understanding of how writing affects the game pipeline as a whole

Base Salary Range:

  • $86,000 - $129,000 CAD
