Sawsan Abdul-Jalil

Sawsan Abdul-Jalil is a PhD candidate at Humboldt University of Berlin, focusing on economywide modeling of rangeland-related ecosystem services in Jordan. As the founder of the Sudanese Women Economists Association, Sawsan creates networking and professional development opportunities for Sudanese women economists. Sawsan holds a research fellowship with the African Economic Research Consortium, studying the effects of economic sanctions on Sudan's export sector, and serves as a lecturer at the University of Khartoum, teaching courses on poverty, inequality, and development. Previous experience includes consultancy roles at the Overseas Development Institute and The World Bank, as well as research and evaluation work with the International Labour Organization and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit. Sawsan's educational background encompasses a Bachelor's and Master's degree in economics from the University of Khartoum, a Master's in International and Development Economics from Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin, and ongoing doctoral studies in Agricultural Economics and Governance at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
