Research Associate, Antibody Discovery – Hummingbird Bioscience

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Research Associate to join the Antibody Discovery team. The job function includes immunoassay and cell biology work and will provide important contributions to a fast-paced team with a cutting-edge technology platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and execute strategies and assays for screening and characterizing antibodies using standard immunoassay techniques such as ELISA and Flow cytometry
  • Responsible for maintaining cell cultures under aseptic conditions for assay validation and antibody screening workflows
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date records of all laboratory work and experiments in electronic files
  • Compilation of experimental results and analysis of data in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the overall safety, operations and organization of the laboratory
  • Active participation in team meetings and presentations as required

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc in Biology or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a immunoassays and cell culture research laboratory
  • Good experience in immunoassay-based screening techniques (ELISA and Flow cytometry or FACS)
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture
  • Fast learner with an ability to work independently and as a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Disciplined and well-organized with a positive attitude and the desire to learn and explore new techniques or areas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism and Word

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous participation in the discovery and development of an antibody (or other biologics) is highly desirable
  • Experience with Biacore and/or Octet for antibody affinity determination is advantageous
  • Experience in molecular biology assays (eg. cloning, PCR)
  • Industry experience will be a plus
