Sean S. Lee

Sean S. Lee is a distinguished academic and engineering professional with extensive experience in civil engineering, specifically in geotechnical and tunneling projects. Since September 2017, Sean serves as the Head Professor in the Department of Earth Resources and Environmental Engineering at Hanyang University and leads the Rock Mechanics and Underground Space Research Laboratory. Prior to this role, Sean worked as a Senior Supervising Engineer and Team Leader at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff. From 2006 to 2017, Sean held positions at Arup as the Americas Tunnels Skills Leader and a Senior Tunneling Engineer, managing significant tunneling projects globally. Earlier experience includes roles at Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers and as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where Sean earned a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering. Educational credentials also include a Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Mining and Petroleum Engineering from Hanyang University.
