Machine Learning Lead at Hydra Energy

Michael Karpinski-Leydier has worked in the field of software and machine learning since 2006. Michael began their career at Firmwater Inc., where they worked as a Software Developer for two four-month co-op terms. Michael then moved to Hydro One, where they worked as a Software Developer for two four-month co-op terms. In 2010, they began working at CrossChasm Technologies as a Controls Developer. Michael then moved to the University of Waterloo, where they worked as a UWAFT, Controls Team Member and UWAFT, Controls Team Lead. In 2015, they began working at the University of British Columbia as a PhD Research Assistant for the Clean Energy Research Center. Finally, in 2022, they began working at Hydra Energy as a Machine Learning Lead.

Michael Karpinski-Leydier completed their Honours High School Diploma at St. Michael's College School in 2005. Michael then continued their education at the University of Waterloo, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering in 2010, followed by a Master of Applied Science in the same field in 2012. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering at The University of British Columbia in 2019.
