Director Of Diversity, Equity And Inclusion at Hydro One

Ogho Ikhalo has a diverse work experience in various roles related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and communications. Starting in 2005, Ogho worked as a News Anchor/Reporter for CBC, where they gained skills in collecting and analyzing information, conducting interviews, and editing audio/videos for broadcast. In 2007, Ogho became the Communications Manager for the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation, where they developed and implemented communication products to educate stakeholders on international social issues. From 2008 to 2015, Ogho held multiple roles as a Senior Public Affairs Officer for the Government of Alberta, focusing on issues related to the justice system, immigration, foreign qualification recognition, climate change, and water. They gained expertise in writing and editing various materials, providing strategic communications counsel, and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. In 2015, Ogho joined Plan International Canada as a Senior Manager of Media and Public Relations. From 2016 to 2021, Ogho worked for the Ontario Federation of Labour in roles such as Head of Communications and Outreach and Director of Women's and Human Rights. In 2018, Ogho founded AFROdisiac Consulting, a communications and DEIB consulting firm, where they collaborate with clients to build inclusive workspaces and provide diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging audits and training. Currently, Ogho is the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Hydro One, where they are responsible for building a diverse talent pipeline and culture of inclusion and belonging.

Ogho Ikhalo has a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Strategic Communications from Washington State University, which was obtained from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Sociology from York University from 2000 to 2005. They also obtained a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Seneca Polytechnic from 2003 to 2005. In addition to their academic achievements, Ogho Ikhalo has certifications as an Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Qualified Administrator from IDI, LLC (obtained in 2023), and as a participant in the Leadership Development Program for Management offered by the Government of Alberta (obtained in 2014).
