Jonathan Butler has a diverse work experience in various industries. Jonathan started their career in Action Images as a Mac Room Operator and Trainee Photographer, where they updated and digitized the archive. Jonathan also provided suitable material for international agencies and newspapers. Jonathan then worked as a Trainee Photographer at Professional Sport UK Ltd, where they provided technical support and assisted with film processing and digitization. Jonathan later worked as a Photographer on a freelance basis for Sportsbeat Images, covering sporting fixtures for newspapers and magazines. One of their notable assignments was covering the Cardiff-based games of the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

Jonathan then transitioned into working at English Heritage, where they held two positions. As a Picture Researcher, they maximized the potential of English Heritage holdings through income generation and showcasing material to internal clients. Jonathan was responsible for commissioning, editing, cataloging, and handling picture requests. As a Research Officer, Jonathan managed archive enquiries, delivered detailed holding analysis, and handled orders for photographic materials. Jonathan utilized research aids such as GIS mapping and software for metadata input and image assessment.

After their time at English Heritage, Jonathan worked at Alamy in various roles. As a Customer Services Executive, they supported Account Managers and serviced the unmanaged client base, ensuring timely and exceptional customer service. Jonathan then became a National Account Manager, responsible for the UK editorial market and new business development. Jonathan's duties included maintaining key accounts, developing new business, and negotiating fair returns for clients. Lastly, they served as a New Business Development Manager, focusing on emerging markets and lead generation, while also promoting the brand ethos.

Most recently, Jonathan joined DXC Technology as an SDM.

Jonathan is currently employed at hyperexponential as a Sales Development Manager, where they help Actuaries and Underwriters fulfill their potential through the use of technology. Jonathan works with over 20 leading (Re) insurers and helps them modernize their pricing practices and empower their teams.

Jonathan Butler attended Reading College School of Art and Design from 2001 to 2002, where they earned a national diploma in Photography. Jonathan then continued their education at the same institution from 2002 to 2004, completing a Higher National Diploma in Photography.
