Jan-Willem Veening

Jan-Willem Veening is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of microbiology, currently serving as the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at i-Seq Biotechnology and as the Director of the Department of Fundamental Microbiology and Professor at the University of Lausanne since October 2016. Veening has held various positions, including Visiting Scholar at UC San Diego Health and Member of the Young Academy at KNAW from March 2015 to October 2020. Previously, Veening served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen, alongside being a Young Investigator at EMBO. An early career included a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Newcastle University. Veening earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Groningen, complemented by a brief research tenure at Université Paris-Sorbonne.
