The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) is the global standard-setting body responsible for developing and assisting in the implementation of principles, standards and guidance, as well as supporting materials for the supervision of the insurance sector.  

The IAIS operates with the support of a secretariat under the direction of a Secretary General and is hosted by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel, Switzerland.

The Policy Advisory Team at IAIS is responsible for developing and advising on global regulatory standards, principles, and guidance tailored for the insurance sector. This team provides expert analysis on emerging risks, such as climate change and financial stability, and offers legal counsel and support to the Executive Committee. They ensure effective communication and implementation of IAIS policies across member jurisdictions.
