Lead Systems Engineer at ICEE.Space

Jaap Elstgeest has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Jaap currently works at TU Delft as a Locatieverantwoordelijke / Mechatronics Engineer, starting in January 2023. Prior to this, they worked as an Electronics Engineer at TU Delft from May 2022 to June 2023. Jaap also served as the Lead Systems Engineer at ICEE.Space since January 2022. Previously, they held the position of Director at Blinkinglights starting in April 2017. Additionally, they worked as a Technicus en mechatronisch ontwerper at Metaalbewerking Heemskerk B.V. beginning in October 2016. Jaap has also gained experience as an Electronics Mechanic at Robin Radar Systems from April 2021 to May 2022. Furthermore, they worked as a Systems Engineer for the CHILL-ICE Analog Astronaut Research Mission at EuroMoonMars in July and August 2021. Earlier in their career, they served as a Stagiair Mechatronica at AAA Lab Equipment B.V. from September to December 2020, and as a Stagiair docent at ROC Mondriaan from February to April 2018. Jaap also gained experience as a Mechatronics and Project-Management Intern at CONCR3DE from September 2017 to February 2018. Additionally, they served as a Commissaris Activiteiten at Studievereniging Kybernetes from September 2016 to September 2017.

Jaap Elstgeest attended De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences from 2015 to 2019, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics. Prior to that, they studied at ROC Leiden from 2012 to 2015, earning a degree in Middenkaderfunctionaris Elektrotechniek BOL-4 with a specialization in electronics. Jaap Elstgeest completed their secondary education at Bonaventuracollege Roelofarendsveen from 2008 to 2012, where they followed the VMBO-tl program. Additionally, they obtained additional certifications including GWO Offshore Safety, Rework of Surface Mount Devices, and PRINCE2 Foundation certificate in Project Management.
