Founded in 1986, the Institute for Community Living, Inc. (ICL) is a not-for-profit corporation that assists individuals with psychiatric disabilities, intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities. At the heart of ICL are the people that are served and the communities in which they live. We provide evidence-based and best practice innovative treatments, rehabilitation programs and support services to over 9,000 adults, children and families in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; offer over 1,400 housing units and a comprehensive system of clinical treatment options; and operates a shelter in Queens for 243 veterans and a women’s shelter in Brooklyn. The Mission ICL, Inc. is to assist individuals and families affected by or at risk for mental and developmental disabilities who need services and support designed to improve their quality of life and participation in community living. We create and provide innovative opportunities for the people we serve to participate in the benefits of community living. We seek to empower people to achieve their fullest potential. We also work to improve communities by fostering acceptance, inclusion and hope.

The executive team at ICL has a lot of experience in various industries. The Sr. Vice-President was previously at Raices, the Director of Finance was at Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc., and the Manager was at Holtz Rubenstein Reminick LLP. They all have different educational backgrounds, with the Sr. Vice-President coming from Queens College with a degree in Public Administration, the Director of Finance coming from Hunter College School Social Work with a degree in Community Organization & Casework, and the Manager coming from Grant Thornton with a degree in Accounting.
