Maryke van Staden

Maryke van Staden has a diverse work experience in the field of sustainable development. Maryke has worked at ICLEI since 2006, where they held various roles including Director of Business Development and Director of the Bonn Center for Local Climate Action and Reporting. In these positions, they focused on program development and strategic rollout of ICLEI's Low Emission Development pathway, overseeing international projects and providing technical support to local and regional governments. Maryke also served as the Coordinator of the Covenant capaCITY project and was involved in the REN21 Renewables Global Status Report 2012. Maryke joined ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, World Secretariat in 2013 as the Manager of the Low Emission Development Program. In this role, they continued to work on program development and coordination of international projects, particularly the Urban-LEDS project. Prior to their work at ICLEI, Maryke was Head of Scientific Projects and Project Officer at the International Solar Energy Society, where they focused on renewable energy projects and concept development.
