Michael Clare is a Principal Researcher in Ocean BioGeoscience at the National Oceanography Centre since June 2012, leading the Marine Geosystems Research Group and publishing over 80 peer-reviewed papers on sediment transport, offshore hazards, and innovative monitoring techniques for coastal communities. Clare serves as the Marine Environmental Advisor to the International Cable Protection Committee, providing guidance on the interaction between cables and the marine environment. Previously, Clare held leadership roles in sedimentological research and geohazard assessments at Fugro GeoConsulting Ltd and has a proven track record in engineering geology and ground investigations. Clare obtained a PhD in Ocean and Earth Science from the National Oceanography Centre Southampton and a Master’s in Geology from the University of Southampton.
