As Partnerships Lead, Alexis works to build the pipeline of Ideo.org’s dynamic projects by building strong relationships and exploring new areas where co-creative design solutions can create systemic change for communities across the US.
Prior to working at Ideo.org, Alexis’ work was rooted in addressing spatial inequities in Central Brooklyn. As Program Manager at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, she led a community-driven effort to transform the local food system to increase economic opportunities and improve health outcomes. Before that, Alexis facilitated youth-led participatory action research to build a base of community-owned data to be used to inform networks of Brooklyn hospitals on ways to support wider community health beyond access to medical care. Alexis is also an active member in the Central Brooklyn Food Coop and is an Economic Democracy Fellow with Brooklyn Communities Collaborative where she explores frameworks to expand participation and decision-making within the communities.
Alexis holds a BS in Environmental Design with a minor in Sustainability Studies from Auburn University and a Masters in City Planning from MIT. If she’s not busy setting up a compost bin at your dinner party, she can likely be found thrifting or DIYing a new woodworking project.
