Dave Akers

Deputy Aviation Director / Senior Project Manager at IEA

Dave Akers has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Dave started their career as a Project Engineer at Huitt-Zollars, Inc. in 1984 and worked there until 1992. Dave then joined Burns & McDonnell as a Senior Project Manager, where they were involved in civil engineering design projects for airports and highways until 1998. From 1998 to 1999, they worked as a Project Manager at Foundation Consulting Group. In 1999, they returned to Huitt-Zollars, Inc. as the Vice President and Senior Project Manager, managing projects in highway design, airport design, and military installation design until 2017.

In 2015, Dave Akers served as the Senior Warden at Christ Church Anglican - Phoenix until 2017. From 2009 to 2010, they were the President of Phoenix Post of SAME. In 2017, they joined WSP USA as the Senior Aviation Project Manager, where they performed design reviews for airport projects and served in a program manager role for one of the largest airports in the country until 2021.

During 2021, Akers briefly sought new opportunities before joining JQ Infrastructure as the Aviation Manager and Senior Project Manager. After leaving JQ Infrastructure in 2022, they joined IEA Inc. as the Deputy Aviation Director and Senior Project Manager.

Dave Akers obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology between 1977 and 1982. Prior to their higher education, they attended Kennett High School from 1974 to 1977. In addition to their academic education, Dave Akers holds professional certifications as a Engineer in various states, including New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and Missouri.
