Li Yang

Li Yang has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of electrical engineering. Starting in 2007 as a PhD researcher at The University of Manchester, Li Yang later became a visiting research assistant at the same institution. In 2012, Li Yang joined Elia as an expert in secondary systems, where they actively contributed to the development and implementation of technical standards and solutions for the Belgian and German transmission networks. In 2015, Li Yang became the lead HVDC converter engineer for Nemo Link Limited, where they managed converter engineering aspects and ensured compliance with project requirements. In 2019, Li Yang joined Elia again as an expert in power electronics and later took on the role of project management officer for SPACS3. In 2021, Li Yang became the president of IEC CEB-BEC 8A, representing Belgium in developing international standards for grid integration of renewable energy. Li Yang also served as a visiting professor at KU Leuven. In 2022, Li Yang established and led the BE NGN chapter of CIGRE Belgium. Currently, Li Yang is a project lead for large offshore projects at TenneT TSO B.V.

Li Yang completed a BEng in Electrical Power Systems Engineering at Shandong University from 2000 to 2004. They then pursued a PhD in Electrical Energy and Power Systems Engineering at Shandong University from 2004 to 2010. Finally, Li Yang obtained a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The University of Manchester from 2009 to 2012.
