Tarunraj Govindarajan

Tarunraj Govindarajan is a Master's student in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, where previous academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science in the same field and a Computing minor. Currently serving as a Research Assistant at Advanced Robotic Technologies for Surgery Lab since April 2021, Tarunraj has contributed to the development of a novel steerable medical catheter, with numerous IEEE publications attributed to ongoing projects. As Robotics Lead at IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, leadership of a 12-member team facilitated software development for a competition robot, while prior roles included Lead Mechanical Engineer and Outreach Coordinator. Internship experiences at Intel Corporation and Gecko Robotics, Inc. further enhanced skills in process engineering, data analysis, and mechanical design. In addition to technical expertise, Tarunraj has a background in STEM education, having mentored younger students as Head Instructor at STEM Valley Summer Camp.
