Katherine Miller

Deputy VP, International Operations at IFAW

Katherine Miller wants to work herself out of a job. That’s because, for more than a decade, she has helped IFAW plan, budget, and strategize just about every level of our operations in pursuit of improved animal welfare. Success for her means the enduring protection of wildlife around the world.

This passion started about 13 years ago, when Katherine joined IFAW as a Special Assistant to the Executive Vice President. Being the sole staff support for the EVP in the newly formed Middle East and North Africa office, she was a one-stop-shop for everything operational, including the support of program planning and execution for trainings, handling formal written communications with government officials throughout the region, and preparing the annual operational budgets for 14 country offices.

Since then, Katherine’s expertise has become more and more recognized within IFAW. As Executive Liaison to IFAW’s CEO, and then Director of Strategic Initiatives, Katherine oversaw organization-wide efforts, including IFAW’s first comprehensive strategic plan progress report.

Today, Katherine guides regional strategic planning as International Operations’ Deputy Vice President. IFAW’s offices throughout North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania depend on Katherine to help plan, budget, monitor, and improve how everything runs. She works to ensure that everyone’s strategy aligns. She advocates for what different regions need internally, so her colleagues in the field can better advocate for the wildlife that brought her to IFAW in the first place.
