Sabine Zwiers

Senior Campaigner at IFAW

Sabine Zwiers has been working for IFAW since 2017 and implements various programs in the Netherlands. She has a long experience as program and project manager at international NGOs and started her career at Pax Netherlands, while studying international law. As coordinator of youth work and later of the first conflict mediation project in Kosovo, she learned how important personal communication is to finding solutions to problems. Sabine finds listening to different points of view and bringing people together an essential part of her work.

She learned to campaign with Amnesty International, where she set up campaigns and projects with local partners in different European countries, including Turkey, Russia, and Belarus. In addition to her job, she has done a lot of volunteer work over the years, such as neighborhood mediation, work at a walk-in center for homeless people, a youth exchange program with Africa and the bird shelter in her hometown. A period as a consultant gave her the opportunity to delve into monitoring & evaluation and to measure the impact of activities and projects. She was then able to combine all these skills and her love for animals at World Animal Protection, where she led the campaign for stray dogs in Europe as European Campaign Manager. At IFAW, Sabine is committed to counter illegal wildlife trade in Europe, reduce underwater noise from shipping and strengthen the international protection of animals.
