Calum Hill

Calum Hill is a skilled engineering professional with extensive experience in the development of photonic technologies. Currently serving as Development Engineering Manager at Coherent Corp. since July 2024, Calum previously held key positions at Vector Photonics, where contributions included the advancement of photonic crystal surface emitting lasers (PCSELs) as both Principal and Senior Development Engineer. Prior experience includes roles as a Laser Development Engineer at Laser Quantum, where Calum led the development of new solid-state laser products, and as a Research Engineer at Thales, focusing on near infrared, mode-locked fibre lasers. Calum holds an Engineering Doctorate in Laser and Optical Engineering from the Centre for Doctoral Training in Applied Photonics and an MPhys in Physics from the University of St Andrews.
