Patty Pensa has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Patty started their career as a Staff Writer at the South Florida Sun Sentinel, where they researched and wrote about a range of topics including government, health care, education, and crime. Patty then worked as a Freelance Writer for the Chicago Tribune Media Group, producing news stories on government, health, and education. Patty also served as a Policy Aide at Heartland Alliance, where they advanced the organization's legislative and public policy interests through research and analysis. Patty later worked at the Steans Family Foundation as a Freelance Researcher, leading a research initiative to provide accurate and relevant data for the Foundation's efforts in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood. Patty then joined United Way of Metropolitan Chicago as a Public Policy Fellow, collaborating on and executing strategies to advance policy initiatives in education, income, health, and nonprofit strengthening. In their role as Senior Web Content Editor at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, they spearheaded the development of new and enhanced content to engage visitors and communicate physician expertise. Currently, Patty is the Senior Director of Marketing Communications/Writer & Editor at the Illinois Health and Hospital Association, where they serve as the lead writer, editor, and project manager for content marketing initiatives.
Patty Pensa attended Northwestern University from 1996 to 2000, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Political Science. Patty further pursued their education at Northwestern University from 2009 to 2011, obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy and Administration.
