Lance Fortnow

Lance Fortnow serves as the Inaugural Dean of the College of Computing and Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology since August 2019. Previous roles include Professor and Chair of the School of Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology, Adjoint Professor at Toyota Technological Institute, and Professor at Northwestern University, University of Chicago, and University of Amsterdam. Fortnow has extensive research experience, having worked as Senior Research Scientist at NEC Research Institute and as a Visiting Lecturer at Princeton University. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in Computer Science and Mathematics from Cornell University.
