Tate Kernell, PhD

Tate Kernell, PhD has extensive work experience in various fields related to data science, mathematics, and research. Tate currently holds the position of Head of Data Science and previously served as Head of Engineering (Interim) and Senior Data Scientist & ML Developer at Illuminate. Prior to that, they worked as a Data Scientist at Cerner Corporation. Tate also worked as a graduate research assistant and graduate lecturer at Baylor University, focusing on solving numerical problems utilizing finite elements. Additionally, they served as a visiting research scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory and operations research intern at the United States Department of Defense. Kernell also worked as an associate enterprise configuration specialist and capacity planning and forecasting intern at Sabre Corporation. At University of Notre Dame, they worked as a mathematics tutor and research assistant, modifying the grid to improve tumor growth modeling using Chebyshev polynomials.

Tate Kernell, PhD earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Notre Dame from 2009 to 2013. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Baylor University from 2013 to 2019.
