Senior Director Of Strategic Initiatives, Marketing at Illustrative Mathematics

Dionne Aminata has a diverse work experience, starting in 2007 as a Middle School Mathematics Teacher with the NYC Department of Education. Dionne then worked as an African Dance Instructor for the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation from 2008 to 2013. In 2013, they joined Aspire Public Schools as a Math Content Specialist and also worked as a Teacher Development Coach for the NYC Teaching Fellows. Dionne later became a Facilitator for UnboundEd.org and focused on building educator capacity for high-quality education. In 2016, they started working with Illustrative Mathematics as a Lead Writer for Curriculum & Professional Learning. Dionne held several roles in the company, including Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives, Marketing, and IM K-5 Math Curriculum Implementation Specialist. In 2018, Dionne co-founded #BlackWomenRockMath and became the Chief Executive Officer of MathTrust and 3 Tree Street in 2020. Dionne is currently an Advisor for the Math Collaborative at the Council of Chief State School Officers.

Dionne Aminata has a diverse education history. Dionne started their academic journey in 1996 at UCLA, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Business Administration. After completing their undergraduate studies, Dionne went on to further enhance their skills and knowledge by attending the Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business from 2004 to 2006. During this time, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in Entrepreneurship and Global Marketing. Continuing their devotion to education, Dionne pursued a Master of Science in Education (MSEd) at Brooklyn College from 2007 to 2009, specializing in Middle Childhood Math for Grades 5-9.
