Education Director at Imagine Children's Museum

Nick Spicher has a diverse work experience in the field of education and museum management. Nick started their career in 2001 as a Teacher in New Orleans Public Schools, where they taught Algebra II and Physics. Nick then worked as a Teacher Assistant at Johns Hopkins University from 2005 to 2008, where they directed discussion sections and graded papers for various science courses.

In 2004, Nick joined the Maryland Science Center as a Senior Public Programmer, performing live science shows, offering hands-on activities, and supervising staff members. Nick stayed in this role until 2010. During their time at the center, they also designed and edited scripted shows and activities.

In 2009, Nick had multiple roles at Johns Hopkins University and Maryland Institute College of Art. At Johns Hopkins University, they worked as a Graduate Assistant, organizing meetings, researching internship and job opportunities, and fostering professional development for undergraduate students in the Museum Studies program. Nick also served as an Intersession Instructor, designing and teaching a short course on exploring Baltimore's museums.

At Maryland Institute College of Art, Nick worked as an Adjunct Instructor for a semester, contributing to the education of art students.

From 2010 to 2017, Nick joined the Science Factory as an Education Director, coordinating educational programs, summer camps, field trips, and special events. Nick also served as the Interim Executive Director in 2016, overseeing the organization's budget and acting as a community liaison.

Since 2017, Nick has been working at the Imagine Children's Museum. Nick started as the Program Innovations Manager, developing innovative STEM programs, managing a grant-funded afterschool science club program, and utilizing technology for educational purposes. Nick then became the Education Manager, where they managed various programs, oversaw staff, and contributed to scheduling. In 2022, they assumed the role of Education Director.

Nick Spicher earned a Ph.D. in History of Science and Technology from The Johns Hopkins University from 2003 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained an AB in History from Princeton University, completing their degree from 1997 to 2001. Nick also holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from MindEdge Learning, obtained in 2021.
