Rita Gakii

Head, Operations, Kenya at ImaliPay

Rita Gakii is the current Head of Operations for ImaliPay in Kenya. Rita has previous experience working with the Zuri Foundation, Mamaz Spices, and Azuri Technologies. While at Azuri Technologies, they served as the Programmes Manager for Eastern Africa and was responsible for the strategic planning, launching, and deployment of the first complete Pay Go Solar TV in Africa – Azuri TV. Rita was also responsible for the content partnerships and distribution management for the company. Under their leadership, Azuri TV won the “Innovative Technology of the Year” at Africa Utility Week Industry Awards and they successfully launched the first ever partnership within the alternative energy sector with a Telco distributor. Rita has a deep understanding of the Unilever distribution network and GTM support from their work on the Azuri-Sunlight partnership. Rita is also experienced in grant management, having successfully applied for and received a grant from RBF for the deployment of solar TV and lights to underserved counties in Kenya.

Rita Gakii has a post-graduate degree in marketing/marketing management from the CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing. Rita also has an MBA in strategic management from the United States International University - Africa, and a BCom in marketing from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. In addition, they have certification from the CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing in postgraduate diploma in professional marketing, CIM affiliate studying member, CIM MCIM member, creating entrepreneurial change, and corporate digital communications. Rita also has certification from LinkedIn in characteristics of a great scrum master and product management: building a product strategy.

Rita Gakii reports to Tatenda Furusa, Co-Founder. They work with Reward Wambayi - CTO, Tamsin Mullins - Head, Operations, South Africa, and Velisiwe Hlengwa - Business Development Manager, SA.
